Is Dominion A Reliable Voting System?

In this age of misinformation, we're here to help you tell what's true and what's false. That sounds a lot like the typical indocrination site's statement, I know.

Claim: The "Dominion" voting system, responsible for the technology used to count votes in many states, experienced a glitch (possibly intentional) and lost 2.7 million Trump ballots in various counties in Pennsylvania, Georgia, and several other states.

Rating: UNPROVEN

Explanation:

Sidney Powell, a member of President Trump's legal team which is contesting various election results across the nation, recently claimed:

that the Democratic Party “had the algorithm, they had the paper ballots waiting to be inserted if and when needed. And notably President Trump’s vote in the blue states went up enormously and that’s when they had to stop the vote count and go in and replace votes for Biden and take away Trump votes.”

She did not put forward any evidence for this.

Antrim County revealed it had inadvertently misreported a number of votes in unofficial results, with state GOP Chairwoman Laura Cox claiming that the error was due to “tabulating software glitched and caused a miscalculation of the votes.” However, Michigan’s secretary of state announced that it was not a software issue, but “user human error” that led to the misreporting, and clarified that “the correct results always were and continue to be reflected on the tabulator totals tape and on the ballots themselves. Even if the error in the reported unofficial results had not been quickly noticed, it would have been identified during the county canvass.”

Three Georgia counties had minor issues:

In one county, an apparent problem with the Dominion software delayed officials’ reporting of the vote tallies, but did not affect the actual vote count. In two others, a separate company’s software slowed poll workers’ ability to check-in voters.

“Many of the claims being asserted about Dominion and questionable voting technology is misinformation at best and, in many cases, they’re outright disinformation,” said Edward Perez, an election-technology expert at the OSET Institute. “I’m not aware of any evidence of specific things or defects in Dominion software that would lead one to believe that votes had been recorded or counted incorrectly.” (Source)

One America News Network anchor Lilia Fifield claimed that according to recent data from Edison Research, “states using Dominion Voting Systems may have switched as many as 435,000 votes from President Trump to Joe Biden” and that “another 2.7 million Trump votes appear to have been deleted by Dominion.” Her claims were repeated by others, including President Trump himself. Dominion Voting Systems has filed a defamation lawsuit against several news networks, including NewsMax, report the (left-biased) sites ABC News and USA Today.

Dominion states that:

"Dominion Voting Systems is committed to ensuring the security of elections.

We utilize both voluntary and compulsory testing on every one of our systems as part of company and federal/state certification processes. Our Democracy Suite products have been tested and certified by the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) in accordance with federal Voluntary Voting Systems (VVSG)."

Note that the only sources reporting on this in depth are left-wing or left-ish. This may lead to unintended bias in this article. All solid evidence seems to show that Dominion is secure, but we can't be sure. Thus, we rate this claim UNPROVEN.
