Type I—first come, first serve. Any magician can put a spell on any other magician. No countering spells. If Magician A and Magician B fight, whoever strikes first wins. Any magician can destroy the universe with a spell.
Type II—same as Type I, except spells can be removed or countered—you can make a spell to remove or block another spell. Examples include Wings of Fire and Harry Potter.
Type III—magic and mind are closely linked. If Magician A and Magician B fight, whoever has the stronger mind and will wins. Countering spells are available. More impressive feats require intense mental concentration, often beyond most magicians. Examples include LoTR and Star Wars.
Type IV—similar to Type III, but magic is unrelated to mind.The most powerful spell, however that is defined, wins. Examples include Fablehaven.
