In The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, the Elf-lord Elrond and the Wizard Saruman confront the Nazgûl, nine terrifying wraiths bound to the will of the Dark Lord Sauron. Elrond wields his sword Hadhafang against the Ringwraiths, skillfully cutting them down one by one, but they keep regenerating.
Notice here:
Elrond parries a blow from the massive mace of the Second of the Nine, then cuts him across the thigh.
And here:
The Elf-lord parries a blow from the mace of an unnamed wraith (possibly the Third) then cuts him across the belly.
Interesting, isn't it? Elrond uses the exact same trick against two Nazgûl, both of which use maces. He parries (strongly with Second, lightly with Third [so as to let him lose his balance]), then cuts them down.
