My Grandma Died Last Night.

My sister and I with her some years ago.

Her name: Karen "Oma" Elizabeth Zyp. Her age: 76. Her importance to me: The mother of my mother, a person who lavished love upon me for all my life.

She had had Parkinson's Disease for about the last 15 years of her life. She hadn't walked without help for over seven years. And yet she was a living picture of God's love. She was witty, kind, loving, and funny. Once she bashfully admitted to my mom that she had misplaced her copy of the Constitution.

I'm not asking you guys to cry. Crying is fine, but it's more important to remember where she has gone. Home.
